A recommendation for the book “illusive – Contemporary Illustration And Its Context”. Die Gestalten Verlag. ISBN: 3-89955-085-4 2nd printing, 2006 (version 2005)

The book gives a broad overview about contemporary Illustration. It is subdivided into the chapters: Classical (analogue), Basic, Rock’n’Roll, Collage (analogue), Urban, Vector, Fashion & Lifestyle and I have to admit that below images are rather randomly picked out and do not follow the careful scheme of the book. The below greyish low-res images should just give you a glimpse about the beauty of the original images, which are high-quality prints in a solid hardcover.
