FEZ-Berlin is run as a non-profit organisation of the Land Berlin and is divided into three main components: the educational work with children, youth and families, the Berlin State Music Academy and the indoor and open air pools.<br \/>\nIt was originally founded in 1950 as the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ernst_Th%C3%A4lmann_Pioneer_Organisation\">Pionierrepublik \u201eErnst Th\u00e4lmann\u201c. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the educational work it hosts among others an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fez-berlin.de\/waswannwo\/oekoinsel.htm\">ecology garden<\/a>, a kids museum, a real <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fez-berlin.de\/waswannwo\/parkeisenbahn.htm\">kids train<\/a>, which dates back to 1956 and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbitall.fez-wuhlheide.de\/orbitall.html\">Orbitall <\/a> -a space exploration centre for kids dating back to 1979.
