{"id":818,"date":"2006-12-29T01:16:43","date_gmt":"2006-12-28T23:16:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=818"},"modified":"2006-12-28T23:23:31","modified_gmt":"2006-12-28T21:23:31","slug":"hopefully-fwishent-tree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=818","title":{"rendered":"hopefully f.wishent tree"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img id=\"image830\" src=\"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2006\/12\/wishingtree.jpg\" alt=\"wishingtree.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Java applet <a href=\"http:\/\/www.folly.co.uk\/wish\">f.wish<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boredomresearch.net\/\">boredom research<\/a> (see also the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.furtherfield.org\/displayreview.php?From=Index&#038;review_id=202\">interview on furtherfield<\/a>)- is a graphical reinterpretation of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lam_Tsuen_Wishing_Trees\">Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees<\/a> on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.folly.co.uk\/\">folly<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>At f.wish you can hang your personal and public wishes (e.g. for next year) onto a tree and read those of others (see above).<\/p>\n<p>f.wish has a nice spongy letter-from-spring-gravity simulation (with the partial use of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.processing.org\/reference\/libraries\/index.html\">traer.physics library for processing<\/a>). Sean Carroll of the physics blog cosmic variance was <a href=\"http:\/\/cosmicvariance.com\/2006\/12\/26\/the-physics-of-imaginary-things\/\">just discussing<\/a> physics and in particular gravity in games like <a href=\"http:\/\/homokaasu.org\/gasgames\/game.gas?21\"> this (partially physically uncorrect) game<\/a>  but also a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ninja\">Ninja<\/a> game and the book &#8220;physics of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Buffy%2C_the_Vampire_Slayer\">buffyverse<\/a>&#8221; (seems to be similar in intention to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=149\">this book<\/a>) were topics in his post.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.miniclip.com\/games\/gravity\/en\/\">Another gravity game <\/a> has a possibility to change directions while flying but no walls and thus you may get lost in space easily.
