It opened on Dec 4th 1926 as &#8220;Hochschule f\u00fcr Gestaltung&#8221; (before that the bauhaus resided from 1919 to 1925 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uni-weimar.de\/cms\/Geschichte.3886.0.html#8344\">in Weimar<\/a> and afterwards 1932-1933 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bauhaus.de\/\">in Berlin<\/a> and 1937-1938 in Chicago). The building was reconstructed over the last 10 years. The renovation is now almost finished, where an emphasis was placed on a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bauhaus-dessau.de\/images\/body\/pm_80_jahre_sanierung_en.pdf\">changed color appearance<\/a> of the Bauhaus.<\/p>\n<p>In 2005 there was an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.germangalleries.com\/Bauhaus_Archiv\/Farbenfroh.05.html\">exhibition<\/a> about the wall-painting workshop of the Bauhaus at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bauhaus.de\/english\/index.htm\">Bauhaus Archiv<\/a> in Berlin with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bauhaus.de\/shop\/produktkatalog_kataloge.htm\">catalog<\/a>.
