{"id":740,"date":"2006-11-28T13:54:18","date_gmt":"2006-11-28T11:54:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=740"},"modified":"2006-11-28T13:54:18","modified_gmt":"2006-11-28T11:54:18","slug":"mysteries-in-reality-in-and-out-of-context","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=740","title":{"rendered":"Mysteries in reality, In and Out of context."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img id=\"image737\" src=\"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2006\/11\/iraschneider450.JPG\" alt=\"iraschneider450.JPG\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nicht-wegsehen.de\/ira_schneider\/\">Ira Schneider<\/a>  talking about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbk.org\/Ausst\/2006\/Schneider.html\">his<\/a> and others works at <a href=\"http:\/\/dict.leo.org\/ende?lp=ende&#038;p=\/oHL..&#038;search=treffen\">Treff<\/a>punkt <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbk.org\/index.html\">NBK<\/a>\/meeting point NBK (Neuer Berliner Kunstverein) on Nov. 15, 2006<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"image739\" src=\"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2006\/11\/nbk450.JPG\" alt=\"nbk450.JPG\" \/><br \/>\n<img id=\"image738\" src=\"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2006\/11\/vortragssaal450.JPG\" alt=\"vortragssaal450.JPG\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>\nAt the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbk.org\/treffpkt.html\">Treffpunkt &#8220;In and out of context&#8221;<\/a>  Ira Schneider was showing excerpts of old and new video works, including a videowork, which is a video documentation about a <a href=\"ttp:\/\/www.museoreinasofia.es\/s-exposiciones\/Exposicion.php?idexposicion=228\">current exhibition<\/a> in Madrid called &#8220;First Generation: Art and the Moving Image 1963-1986&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.turbulence.org\/blog\/archives\/003383.html\">(see also here)<\/a>. This video documentation was finished 3 hours before his presentation at the Treffpunkt.<\/p>\n<p>Hence I am reporting now about a recent real life documentation about a brand new video documentation which is about a current museum documentation about video culture in the seventies\/eighties (which videos are probably documenting also all sorts of things)&#8230;. &#8211; so no wonder that this made me think about <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Iteration\">iterations\/recursions<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Convergence\">convergence<\/a>\/<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fixpoint\">fixpoints<\/a> and hence <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fractal\">fractals<\/a> which are usually sets of fixpoints&#8230;:) <\/p>\n<p>Ira Schneiders documentation treasured every moment and interaction, he named almost every person in his video. His mixture of documenting the things\/works and the &#8220;life around&#8221; them displayed his true wish to understand the humans involved with the objects and situations they have to deal with.<\/p>\n<p>And yes &#8211; I was reminded of Prousts famous citation from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/In_Search_of_Lost_Time\">La Prisonni\u00e8re<\/a> (1923), and I will cite it <a href=\"http:\/\/kunstenfestivaldesarts.be\/fr\/2003\/pdf\/introduction.pdf\">again<\/a> (also if I hear already the berlinAntikitschPolice coming). Can one say that (at least) this citation is a kind of literature fixpoint (??:-O):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Le seul v\u00e9ritable voyage, le seul bain de Jouvence, ce ne serait pas d&#8217;aller vers de nouveaux paysages, mais d&#8217;avoir d&#8217;autres yeux, de voir l&#8217;univers avec les yeux d&#8217;un autre, de cent autres, de voir les cent univers que chacun d&#8217;eux voit, que chacun d&#8217;eux est.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The NBK &#8211; a collective for supporting Berlin artists &#8211; is hosting next to their exhibitions, lectures etc. an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbk.org\/artothek.html\">Artothek<\/a> i.e. a &#8220;public library&#8221; to loan out artworks. You can support NBK by e.g. bying one of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbk.org\/Jahresgaben\/jahresgaben.html\">Jahresgaben<\/a> and &#8211; being a recurrent theme &#8211; I couldn&#8217;t resist to link to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbk.org\/Jahresgaben\/Uecker1.gif\">Guenther Ueckers Jahresgabe<\/a>..:)<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<br \/>\nBelow are some excerpts from Ira Schneiders exhibition:&#8221;Mysteries in Reality&#8221;: his installations echo (1975) and  timezones (1980)  (where echo was in a seperate room, as are his video works) and his contributions to the famous magazine <a href=\"http:\/\/www.radicalsoftware.org\/e\/more.html\">radical software<\/a> (where I recommend to read also the  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.radicalsoftware.org\/e\/ross.html\">intro by David Ross<\/a> at that link).
