{"id":5125,"date":"2012-12-29T15:03:36","date_gmt":"2012-12-29T13:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=5125"},"modified":"2012-12-29T15:24:23","modified_gmt":"2012-12-29T13:24:23","slug":"about-a-european-collecting-cooperative-called-c3s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=5125","title":{"rendered":"About a european collecting cooperative called C3S"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a follow-up post to the german randform post <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=4388\">&#8220;comment to gema-vs-youtube on Spreeblick&#8221;<\/a> (and its partial <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=4404\">translation<\/a>) and the post <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=5034\">&#8220;A digital agenda&#8221;<\/a> which are amongst others concerned with the german collecting society <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gesellschaft_f%C3%BCr_musikalische_Auff%C3%BChrungs-_und_mechanische_Vervielf%C3%A4ltigungsrechte\">GEMA.<\/a><br \/>\nIn the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=4388\">german post<\/a> the wish for a <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;&#8230;\u201cMusikanbietgenossenschaft\u201d :) (oder \u00e4hnlichem)&#8221;&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>i.e. for a &#8220;music collecting <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cooperative\">cooperative&#8221;<\/a> was voiced. Such a cooperative seems now underway. According to the german Heise Online article: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heise.de\/newsticker\/meldung\/29C3-Geplante-GEMA-Alternative-sieht-sich-auf-gutem-Weg-1775005.html\">&#8220;Geplante GEMA Alternative sieht sich auf gutem Weg&#8221;<\/a> a cooperative called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.c-3-s.eu\/index_en.html\">Cultural Commons Collecting Society (C3S)<\/a> is going to be established.<\/p>\n<p>Especially important is here that the C3S initiative is thought to be europe-wide thus the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=5034\">digital agenda<\/a> plays a role here. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.c-3-s.eu\/index_en.html\">Cultural Commons Collecting Society (C3S)<\/a> is sofar only a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.c-3-s.eu\/index_en.html#team\">gathering<\/a> but &#8211; according to Heise &#8211; there are plans to form a european cooperative in the first half of 2013 and to be functionable in about 2 years. If you are musically active you can officially display your interest via signing a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.c3s.cc\/legal\/declaration-of-intent.pdf\">declaration of intent <\/a> which is important for the representation in front of legal bodies like the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Deutsches_Patent-_und_Markenamt\">german patent office. <\/a> Tim (who is still a GEMA member) has already signed the declaration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a follow-up post to the german randform post &#8220;comment to gema-vs-youtube on Spreeblick&#8221; (and its partial translation) and the post &#8220;A digital agenda&#8221; which are amongst others concerned with the german collecting society GEMA.
