According to<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2011\/11\/11\/us-nuclear-iodine-iaea-idUSTRE7AA4U020111111\"> Reuters<\/a> :<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Germany&#8217;s Environment Ministry said slightly higher levels of radioactive iodine had been measured in the north of the country, ruling out that it came from a nuclear power plant.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Likewise <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Austria&#8217;s Environment Ministry said small levels were measured in the east and north of the Alpine country, saying the estimated dose level for the population was one 40,000th of the dose of radiation received in a transatlantic flight.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The source of the radioactivity hasn&#8217;t sofar been identified. The<a href=\"http:\/\/iaea.org\/newscenter\/pressreleases\/2011\/prn201124.html\"> IAEA thinks<\/a> they are not caused by Fukushima. Again according to Reuters:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> Massimo Sepielli, head of the nuclear fission unit of Italy\u2019s national alternative energy body ENEA said any number of sources could be to blame for the readings.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cIt could be coming from the transporting of (nuclear) material, it could come from a hospital \u2026 it could even come from a nuclear submarine, even if it\u2019s a more complicated possibility \u2026 but you can\u2019t rule that out.\u201d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I am asking myself now how big a hospital dump must have been in order to find traces which are extending from the east of Austria to northern Germany.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Biquiertes Iod\u00eener&#8221; artwork by Worth\u00fclsenfr\u00fcchtchen.
