{"id":1513,"date":"2007-10-06T22:20:52","date_gmt":"2007-10-06T20:20:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=1513"},"modified":"2007-10-06T22:20:52","modified_gmt":"2007-10-06T20:20:52","slug":"death-star-sighted-near-earth-lichtberlin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=1513","title":{"rendered":"Death Star sighted near earth &#8211; Lichtberlin"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"center\"><img src='http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2007\/10\/identitysphere2.JPG' alt='identitysphere2.JPG' \/><\/div>\n<p>The above picture clearly shows, that Han Solo exagerated, when he first took the Death Star for a moon.<!--more--> He overestimated its size by a factor of roughly 10<sup>6<\/sup> (since we can estimate the halfaxis to be about 30cm only). <a href=\"http:\/\/stardestroyer.net\/Empire\/Tech\/Beam\/DeathStar.html\">Here<\/a> is an independent estimate of the space station&#8217;s fire power, which seems to be impressive none the less.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img src='http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2007\/10\/identitysphere1.JPG' alt='identitysphere1.JPG' \/><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><small>Identity Sphere by Helga Griffiths<\/small><\/div>\n<p>My 1 hour cycling route to work runs through a fraction of the Tiergarten park in the center of Berlin and at the moment there is an exhibition trail installed called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lichtberlin.de\/\">Lichtberlin Parcours Tiergarten<\/a>&#8220;. It has many (illuminated) installations at display. I should say that besides my first association with the abovementioned space station, I like the illuminated orb visually.
