{"id":1229,"date":"2007-06-09T11:30:15","date_gmt":"2007-06-09T09:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=1229"},"modified":"2007-06-09T11:30:15","modified_gmt":"2007-06-09T09:30:15","slug":"designmai-part-iii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=1229","title":{"rendered":"designmai-part III"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src='http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2007\/06\/leuchtkugel1.JPG' alt='leuchtkugel1.JPG' \/><img src='http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2007\/06\/leuchtkugel2-150.JPG' alt='leuchtkugel2-150.JPG' \/><img src='http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2007\/06\/leuchtkugel3.JPG' alt='leuchtkugel3.JPG' \/><\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2007\/06\/holyghost224.JPG' alt='holyghost224.JPG' style=\"padding-right:2px;\"\/><img src='http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2007\/06\/holyghost3.JPG' alt='holyghost3.JPG' \/><\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2007\/06\/leuchtkugel4.JPG' alt='leuchtkugel4.JPG' \/><img src='http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2007\/06\/leuchtkugel5.JPG' alt='leuchtkugel5.JPG' \/><img src='http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/wp-content\/2007\/06\/leuchtkugel6.JPG' alt='leuchtkugel6.JPG' \/><\/p>\n<p>A LED&#8217;s thing by future factories<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>As was visible already in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randform.org\/blog\/?p=1214\">last designmai post<\/a>  the return of baroque and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rococo\">rococo<\/a> seems to be a still prevailently creeping trend.<br \/>\n(a rococo recommendation on the side: if you go to munich you may want to visit the beautiful <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Asamkirche_%28M%C3%BCnchen%29\">church of the brothers Asam <\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>In the designmai exhibition <a href=\"http:\/\/www.futurefactories.com\/\">futurefactories<\/a> likewise pushed this tendency forward by displaying amply decorated baroquian <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dwr.com\/productdetail.cfm?id=2456\">Ghost chairs by Philipp Starck<\/a> which were set together in an ensemble with an all-color-LED illumination giving the whole an additional <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Visual_kei\">eighties visual key<\/a> touch and thus invoked a rather strong visual contrast to the rest of the exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>In order to provide the above described (late) baroque retrotrend in architecture and design with a more systematic treatment there exists now a research project called <a href=\"www.rokokorelevanz.de\">rokokorelevanz<\/a> which is an initiative by Luc Merx, who in particular created the below lamp &#8220;fall of the damned&#8221; which was also displayed at designmai (see images). citation from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rokokorelevanz.de\/MGXbrochure-silver_lo.pdf\">gagat brochure<\/a> within the description of the lamp:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The association with the fall of the damned, a  metaphor for guilt and punishment gives the lamp a certain amount of ambivalence: is it a moralistic message, an act of formalism or both?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The lamp displays figures in free fall, so among others gravity seems to play a role in the work.  <\/p>\n<p>However stepping back and looking at the lamp I found that the forces of gravity weren&#8217;t satisfyingly respected &#8211; in other words: the figures look a bit too rigid. So this may be a crazy idea and I don&#8217;t know at what temperatures the material is meltable, but hanging the lamp shortly in an oven (a stronger bulb inside could have a similar effect?) <em>could<\/em> improve the overall picture.
